PLAN APPROVAL GUIDELINES

To help assure building safety, the District works with local residents, builders, and developers from a fire and life safety perspective, to ensure residential and commercial buildings meet the California Fire Code, El Dorado County Safe Ordinance, and local Meeks Bay Fire Protection District ordinances.

For all projects within the Meeks Bay Fire Protection District, the District requires you to provide your building permit number, along with one set of plans.

RESIDENTIAL SPRINKLER REQUIREMENTS

  • New Homes: Per the 2010 California Fire Code, all new homes are required to have NFPA 13D residential sprinklers.
  • Residential Additions: If the addition is over 50% of the existing square footage and the new total square footage of the home will be over 3600 square feet including attached garage and storage space, sprinklers are required.

LPG INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE

With concern for fire and life safety, the District has spoken with the LPG vendors to have all installations be code compliant. The LPG installations must meet current Meeks Bay Fire Prevention Code, which includes submittal of an LPG permit to the District.
